Curriculum vitae

Dr. Stathis Michaelides has been a member of the faculty of the Department of Engineering at Texas Christian University since August 2011. He received his B.A. degree from Oxford University in 1977 and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Brown University in 1979 and 1980, respectively. Previously, Dr. Michaelides was at the University of Delaware (1980-90) as a faculty member and acting chairperson; at Tulane University (1990-2006) as department head and associate dean; at UNT (2006-2007) as founding department chair; and at UT San Antonio (2007-2011) as department chair and research center  director. He was awarded an honorary M.A. degree from Oxford in 1984; the ASEE Centennial award in 1993; a Fellowship of the French Ministry of Research and Technology in 1995 “…for outstanding researchers of international recognition;” a Senior Fulbright Fellowship in 1997; the ASME Freeman Scholar award in 2002; two ASME distinguished service commendations in 2006 and 2007; and the outstanding researcher award at Tulane in 2003. Dr. Michaelides is the editor of the Journal of Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics  and sits on the editorial board of four other Journals.
